What do we have to lose?

--

This is my question to my husband when we’re thinking about making a change. It’s the way I evaluate the pros and cons. This morning's conversation was about changing jobs, becoming more active in labor disputes, and potentially shaking up the status quo at work.

Him: What if I lose my job?
Me: Then you find a new one

Him: What if I lose my license?
Me: Okay. Then you no longer work as a nurse. Something you don’t want to do anymore, anyway

Him: What if we can’t pay our bills?
Me: Then we move to a smaller house, downgrade our cars, cut expenses, whatever

Him: I don’t want you and the kids to suffer because I’m off trying to change the world.
Me: If you are trying to change the world, we won’t be suffering
